Disengagement site demining near Petrivsky begins - Ukrainian military

KYIV. Nov 13 (Interfax) - Demining has begun in the disengagement area between Bohdanivka and Petrivske in the Donetsk region, spokesman for the Joint Forces Operation Command Andriy Ageyev told Interfax on Wednesday.

"Today at noon, the practical phase of the withdrawal of forces and hardware at site No. 3 entered its fifth day. In particular, its second component involves the demining of the site itself under the control of the OSCE [Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe's Special] Monitoring Mission," Ageyev said.

The Ukrainian side and the OSCE SMM are monitoring demining by the adversary, he said.

Under the approved schedule-plan, the demining process should take no more than seven days, followed by the removal of fortifications, Ageyev said.

"The removal of fortifications and other positions at the third site is due to take place once the demining phase is over. So, there will be a day of OSCE verification, and only the following day, after the verification, should the removal of fortifications begin. As long as there are no disruptions or provocations, this will happen," he said.

The disengagement at site No. 3 in Petrivske began on November 9. On November 11 and 12, Kyiv and Donetsk announced the removal of their forces one kilometer from the contact line.
