Some 40,000 LPR residents receive Russian passports - LPR Interior Ministry

LUHANSK. Nov 13 (Interfax) - Some 40,000 residents of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) have received Russian passports using a facilitated system, Ruslan Naida, deputy head of the migration service directorate of the LPR Interior Ministry, told reporters.

"Speaking about LPR passports, some 300,000 residents have now received LPR passports," he said.

A population census was conducted in the LPR in October. Its results have not been published yet.

In the meantime, according to a study conducted by the Ukrainian Institute of the Future and "Zerkalo Nedeli. Ukraine" in collaboration with New Image Marketing group, 57.8% of the residents of the areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions uncontrolled by Kyiv consider themselves citizens of Ukraine.

At the same time, 34.8% of the residents of the areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions uncontrolled by Kyiv have DPR or LPR passports, and 6.8% have Russian passports. A total of 42.9% of the residents of these territories of Donbas have never thought of taking Russian citizenship.

The results of the poll were published on November 9.

The study was conducted on October 7-31, 2019. It surveys 1,606 respondents, including 800 people living in the part of the Luhansk region uncontrolled by Kyiv and 806 people living in the part of the Donetsk region uncontrolled by Kyiv.
