MOSCOW. Nov 22 (Interfax) - The new state armament program for the period until 2033 should envisage a broader range of laser and hypersonic weapons and combat robots and drones, President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting of the Russian Security Council on Friday.
"We will start working on the state armament program for the period until 2033 and, respectively, a program for the development of our defense industry next year. The main task of the new period is to bolster the quality and quantity of weapons and hardware," Putin said.
"This is a question of present-day and future types of precision-guided aerospace defense weapons and hardware, and active use of artificial intelligence technologies in manufacturing military products. In particular, we should increase the range of reconnaissance and attack drones, laser and hypersonic systems, weapons based on 'new physical principles', and robotic systems capable of accomplishing various missions on the battlefield," he said.
