Russia to create worth conditions for military service - Putin

MOSCOW. Nov 22 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has demanded smooth indexation of military pay.

Military pay has increased by 8.3% in the past two years, as has the size of military pensions, Putin said at a Security Council meeting on Friday.

More than 42,000 army and other personnel have received permanent homes and nearly 275,000 have been housed in military quarters since 2016, he said.

"Over 405 billion rubles has been allocated to develop the mortgage accumulation system for military personnel, including about 142 billion in the current year of 2019. I want to stress that such work must certainly continue. There should be no disruption to the indexation of military compensation," Putin said.

Creating "worthy conditions of service" is a crucial area of development in the entire Russian military organization structure, he said.

"People should be able to feel that by doing their important job involving everyday privations, family privations, under high-risk, often life threatening, conditions, [that] by doing their job people should be able to understand and feel that their country, government, the state they are serving do care," Putin said.
