Frigate Admiral Gorshkov arrives in White Sea to test new missile weapon

MOSCOW. Nov 25 (Interfax) - The frigate Admiral Gorshkov has arrived in the White Sea for a test of a new missile weapon, the Russian Navy's Northern Fleet stated.

"Project 22350's head frigate Admiral Gorshkov today arrived at the White Sea Naval Base of the Northern Fleet. Very soon in Severodvinsk the ship will complete preparations for testing new types of weapon and sail out into the White Sea for a firing test," the statement reads.

On November 21 the fleet said that the frigate had left Severomorsk and was heading to the White Sea for a missile test.

"While in the White Sea, the sailors will hold a series of tests of a new missile weapon, as well as a number of planned combat drills," the fleet said.

The warship was built by Severnaya Shipyard in St. Petersburg and joined the Navy in July 2018. It has the 130 mm A-192 artillery system, the Redut air defense missile system, launchers for 16 Oniks or Kalibr-NK missiles, the Paket-NK anti-submarine weapon system, and the anti-submarine helicopter Kamov Ka-27.

The frigate also has the UKSK 3S14 vertical launching system which has been adapted for several types of missile: Kalibr, Tsirkon, Oniks and BrahMos.
