TALLINN. Nov 26 (Interfax) - Kyiv and Moscow have very complicated relations, but the two countries have started a dialogue, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said at a joint press conference with Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid in Tallinn on Tuesday.
"We have very complicated relations with Russia. We have started a dialogue, which will be continued in the Normandy format at the meeting between the leaders of the four countries," Zelensky said.
He confirmed that he had had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday, saying the two did not discuss the upcoming Normandy-format meeting.
"We didn't discuss the Normandy format, we respect our partners and will discuss it on the evening of December 9 - I mean between the leaders of Germany, France, Ukraine, and Russia," Zelensky said.
He said he and Putin had discussed natural gas deliveries to Ukraine and its transport across the country. "The year is coming to an end, and it's about time we signed a long-term agreement," Zelensky said.
He also denied allegations that he and U.S. President Donald Trump had reached some agreement that could potentially affect the elections in the U.S. "We are a sovereign country; we don't meddle in affairs of other states. Everything that was secret has been published and is now available to everyone. We have quite a few problems ourselves, and we have enough to do," Zelensky said.
The elections in Ukraine have shown that the people have chosen a European way, he said. "Most of the people have chosen a European way, and we will continue it," Zelensky said.
