Russia to propose CSTO military cooperation plan for period until 2025 - Putin (Part 2)

BISHKEK. Nov 28 (Interfax) - Russia will propose a five-year military cooperation plan for the period until 2025 to member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) during its presidency in the organization, President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council on Thursday.

"Russia will be closely interacting with CSTO member states for the purpose of broadening operative capacities of the organization and improving the combat training, cohesion, and mobility of the CSTO Collective Forces. I intend to elaborate and propose to the partners a five-year CSTO military cooperation plan for the period until 2025," Putin said.

The plan could be approved by the CSTO chiefs of state at the next summit, he said.

Russia will be presiding in the CSTO in 2020.

Putin laid down Russian priorities for this period at the Bishkek meeting.

"First of all, we believe it is important to continue the routine, systematic, and consistent implementation of the CSTO collective security strategy for the period until 2025. This means we should deal with practical issues related to the prevention or reduction of common threats, and the strengthening of security in our countries," he said.

Russia will be closely cooperating with the CSTO member states for broadening operational capacities, Putin said.
