MOSCOW. Nov 29 (Interfax) - Russia has supplied a batch of small arms to Gabon free of charge, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Thursday.
"The Defense Ministry of Russia has delivered small arms to the Republic of Gabon free of charge as part of steps to support the government of this country in its crackdown on poaching and efforts to guard national parks," the ministry said.
The small arms provided by Russia will be distributed among Gabon's agencies that fight poaching, including the illicit elephant hunting, it said.
It was reported in 2002 that Russia and Gabon signed an intergovernmental agreement on military-technical cooperation.
