Russian investigators charge ex-Ukrainian MP Mosiychuk in absentia over attack on Russian embassy in Kyiv

MOSCOW. Dec 3 (Interfax) - Russian investigators have charged former Ukrainian parliamentarian Ihor Mosiychuk in absentia with involvement in an attack on the Russian embassy in Kyiv in 2016, the press service of the Russian Investigative Committee said in a report seen by Interfax on Tuesday.

"Mosiychuk has been charged with an attack on persons or institutions under international protection (Article 360 of the Russian Criminal Code). He has been declared wanted," the press service said.

Overwhelming evidence pointing to Mosiychuk's role in that attack of the Russian embassy was obtained during the investigation, it said.

"As a result of the criminal actions undertaken by Mosiychuk and other people, the normal functioning of the Russian diplomatic mission was seriously disrupted and significant material damage was caused to the property of the Russian embassy to Ukraine," the press service said.

Other Ukrainians MPs such as Volodymyr Parasiuk and Andriy Lozovoi are also being prosecuted for their involvement in attacks on Russian diplomatic missions, the press service said. Mykola Rudkovsky already appeared before court in Russia.

Mosiychuk is a commander of the Ukrainian nationalist battalion Azov, which fought in Donbas. He was elected to Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada based on the lists of Oleh Lyashko's Radical Party.
