Russian Security Council secretary arrives in Shanghai for strategic stability consultations with China

SHANGHAI. Dec 3 (Interfax) - Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev arrived in Shanghai on Tuesday as part of his visit to China for bilateral consultations on strategic stability, Russian Security Council spokesman Yevgeny Anoshin told reporters.

"Nikolai Patrushev has arrived in Shanghai at the invitation of member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Yang Jiechi. In Shanghai, the secretary of the Security Council of Russia will hold Russian-Chinese consultations on strategic stability," Anoshin said.

The Russian delegation to the upcoming consultations includes representatives from the central office of the Russian Security Council, the Foreign Ministry, the Defense Ministry, the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, and other Russian ministries and agencies. Patrushev will also meet with Mayor of Shanghai Ying Yong.

Patrushev met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Monday. Consultations between Russia and China also took place as part of the mechanism of public security, justice, and law and order.
