Russian-made advanced EW systems outperform foreign peers - Putin

SOCHI. Dec 4 (Interfax) - Russia has created new electronic warfare (EW) systems that outdo foreign likes, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"Over the past few years, [Russian] defense firms have created more than 20 types of EW equipment to allow electronic warfare forces to successfully accomplish the entire spectrum of tasks. And they outperform foreign comparables by capabilities," Putin said during a meeting dedicated to military issues in Sochi on Wednesday.

"We should continue to improve such systems and computer controlled data-processing systems that ensure an effective use of military forces," he said.

Such EW systems were used in Syria, he added.

"It is important to make use of the experience obtained during military drills or combat use of EW equipment. We used the equipment actively enough during the operation in Syria," Putin said.
