NUR-SULTAN. Dec 10 (Interfax) - The participants in the current round of the Astana format talks on Syria are ready to discuss steps to facilitate a political process in the country with UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen, Russian Special Presidential Representative for Syria Alexander Lavrentyev told reporters.
"Of course, we will discuss with Mr. Pedersen what we can do, how we can help promote the political process and the work of the [Syrian] Constitutional Committee. But I don't think we all need to rush. The international community has big expectations that the Constitutional Committee has already resolved all issues within two or three months," Lavrentyev told reporters.
"The sides that sat down at the negotiating table are now learning to get along with each other. Therefore, let's wait, let's be patient. I think we'll be able to see positive progress here in the future," he said.
