Ballistic missile test proves INF Treaty was dismantled at U.S. initiative - Peskov

MOSCOW. Dec 13 (Interfax) - The fact that the United States has tested a ballistic missile formerly banned by the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty proves that this treaty was dismantled at Washington's initiative, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a press briefing on Friday.

"We have said on multiple occasions that the United States was long preparing to breach the INF Treaty; this is illustrative proof that, to our deep regret, the treaty was actually dismantled at the U.S. initiative," Peskov said.

He said he could not comment on the test from the point of view of the missile's performance characteristics.
