MOSCOW. Dec 13 (Interfax) - The Federal Security Service (FSB) has reported the detention of five members of ISIL (banned in Russia) in Moscow on suspicion of plotting acts of sabotage and terror attacks.
"The FSB, acting together with the Russian Interior Ministry, has stopped the activity of members of the ISIL international terrorist organization (banned in Russia) in Moscow; the group comprised two citizens of Russia and three people with origins in Central Asian countries who were plotting acts of sabotage and terror attacks," the FSB public relations center told Interfax in a statement on Friday.
The local investigative authority opened a criminal case, and the suspects were taken into custody.
"Communication devices carrying instructions from emissaries of the international terrorist organization were seized" from the suspects during the search, the statement said.
In addition, the investigators found a cache containing a Kalashnikov rifle, a Makarov handgun, ammunition, and an improvised explosive device, it said.
The FSB did not reveal the suspects' identities, the date of their detention, or any further details.
