MOSCOW. Dec 13 (Interfax) - Russian and Indian troops reconnoitered an area that will soon be hosting the active phase of the Indra 2019 inter-service Russian-Indian exercise, the Eastern Military District said on Friday.
"Firing practice with the T-90 main battle tanks and BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles, which were handed over to our troops yesterday by India for the duration of the exercise, will continue at the training range today," the district said in a statement obtained by Interfax.
The range is at Babina in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
The exercise is being held from December 11 to December 21 in three Indian states and involves more than 700 Russian troops, the district said.
Earlier the district said that Russia's naval grouping taking part in the exercise would comprise several ships, including an oil tanker, a helicopter, two or three motor boats for special-forces units, and roughly 300 personnel.
The special forces units are expected to test disembarkation skills and neutralize and seize a mock terrorist camp.
