DONETSK/KYIV. Dec 25 (Interfax) - A Horlivka resident has been injured in mortar shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Ivan Prikhodko, mayor of Horlivka, a town in territory controlled by the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), said.
"Settlement 6/7. The cemetery area. Mortar shelling. Civilian resident Vladimir Viktorovich Sorokin (59) was wounded on the head and shoulder," Prikhodko said on Telegram on Wednesday.
The Ukrainian Defense Ministry, in turn, said that militias of the unrecognized Donbas republics had twice violated the Donbas ceasefire between midnight and noon on December 25.
"Beginning just after midnight, the adversary for almost 30 minutes fired small arms on the positions of the Joint Forces near Krymske. Starting at 11:25 a.m. [...] the adversary used rocket-propelled grenades to shell defense positions near Krasnohorivka," the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said in a daytime summary report.
One Ukrainian soldier was injured in the shelling attack. He was taken to a mobile military hospital. His state of health is satisfactory, the ministry said.
