MOSCOW. Dec 27 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin's possible visit to Bethlehem on January 23 is being considered, presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told Interfax.
"This visit is under consideration," Peskov said upon being asked whether the Russian president's schedule includes a visit to Bethlehem on January 23.
Media reported earlier that Putin was expected to visit Bethlehem on January 23.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said in November that an invitation had been sent to the Russian president to visit Bethlehem this coming Christmas. Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov, for his part, confirmed that such an invitation had been received.
