MOSCOW. Jan 9 (Interfax) -The assassination of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani by the United States is a short-sighted step that could lead to an abrupt escalation of the situation in the Middle East, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Friday in a statement seen by Interfax.
"The U.S.' short-sighted steps such as the murder of General Qasem Soleimani will lead to an abrupt escalation of the military-political situation in the Middle East region and will entail serious negative consequences for the entire system of international security," it said.
