LPR denies recognition to decentralization amendments to Ukrainian Constitution uncoordinated with Donbas

LUHANSK. Jan 21 (Interfax) - The draft amendments to the Ukrainian Constitution concerning decentralization of the authorities must be coordinated with Donbas, Foreign Minister of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) Vladislav Deinego told the press.

"First of all, this draft has not been discussed with us in Minsk, so we will not accept a document in any form that contravenes the obligations of Ukraine in the Minsk negotiating process," Deinego said.

In this context, the LPR will follow the procedure established by the Minsk Agreements, he said. "They clearly say that every aspect of the special status and drafts of legislative acts aimed at its implementation must be discussed with Donbas representatives. That did not happen, therefore we cannot accept this draft in principle," Deinego said.

"Both Germany and France have backed our opinion that the draft is in disagreement with the Minsk obligations. Support coming from Canada, which categorically opposed the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada's vote for the draft, was unexpected," he said.
