Russia has no current plans to send people to Mars

MOSCOW. Jan 28 (Interfax) - Russia is not planning any manned flights to Mars for now, Russian General Designer of Manned Space Systems and Complexes Yevgeny Mikrin has told journalists.

"No such flights are planned thus far, and there are no such provisions in state policy," Mikrin said in response to a question as to whether Russia might fly to Mars.

Manned flights to the Moon should be performed first, he said. "We should be moving progressively. First the Moon, and then further on," Mikrin said.
