Kremlin awaiting additional info about Trump plan from Netanyahu (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Jan 29 (Interfax) - Moscow is analyzing the Middle East settlement plan presented by U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday and is awaiting additional information from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a press briefing on Wednesday.

"We keep analyzing the information and studying the plan prepared by the White House administration. A meeting with Netanyahu will take place tomorrow, and first-hand information will be received," Peskov said.

"So far, we can only state that the plan has gained full support of Israel and has been backed by a number of other countries, while being categorically rejected by the direct party to the so-called deal, Palestine," Peskov said.

Russia remains a member of the Middle East Quartet, Peskov said. "If necessary, Russia is ready to take any effort and to do its best for the sake of lasting peace in the Middle East," he said.

Trump's "deal of the century" was one of his election promises. The U.S. presidential administration had been working on the plan for several years.
