U.S. to continue passing to Moscow information that will help neutralize terrorist threat - ambassador to Russia

MOSCOW. Jan 31 (Interfax) - The United States will continue sharing information with Moscow that will help neutralize terrorist threat, U.S. Ambassador to Russia John Sullivan said in an interview with Interfax.

"The United States takes threats to the lives of Americans, and Russians, very seriously. We will continue to pass information to relevant authorities in the Russian Federation as we aim to protect innocent lives," Sullivan said.

It was reported in late December 2019 that Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked U.S. President Donald Trump in a telephone conversation for passing information via security channels that allowed to prevent terrorist attacks in Russia.

"While I don't want to get into details on this specific case, our joint work to identify the threat and exchange important information over a period of time was key to neutralizing a threat to Russians and others in Russia. We hope that this can serve as a model for future cooperation, on counterterrorism and other issues," Sullivan said.
