Ukrainian Armed Forces to leave 'Glory to Ukraine' slogan in effect - Defense Ministry

KYIV. Feb 17 (Interfax) - The termination of the effect of the law on the Drills and Ceremonies Manual of the Ukrainian Armed Forces does not scrap a military greeting, which will be stipulated in the departmental document, the Defense Ministry said.

"[...] The Ukrainian Defense Ministry provides clarifications on a number of important issues. The totally incorrect interpretation regarding the cancellation of the military slogan 'Glory to Ukraine!' - 'To Heroes Glory!' in the Ukrainian army is among these issues," the press service for the Defense Ministry said.

Following the annulment of the law on the Drills and Ceremonies Manual, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry will issue a decree, which will set, among other things, requirements for performing the military salute "Glory to Ukraine!" and "To Heroes Glory!" in response to it.

The Verkhovna Rada voted for abolishing the law on the Drills and Ceremonies Manual on February 5. The law was submitted to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for signing on February 11. The explanatory note said that the bill was aimed at bringing Ukrainian legal regulations into compliance with Euro-Atlantic rules and with criteria set for the NATO membership.

Following this, several media outlets reported that the enacted law on recognizing the Ukrainian law on the Drills and Ceremonies Manual of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to be invalidated annulled the military slogan "Glory to Ukraine!"
