Putin tasks FSB with protecting info about new weapons systems, innovations (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Feb 20 (Interfax) - Foreign security services remain active in Russia, so Russian counterintelligence officers should remain vigilant, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"Counterintelligence officers did a lot of work last year. Judging by statistical information, foreign security services remain active in our country, so it's your task to operate in a reliable and efficient manner," Putin said at a meeting of the FSB board on Thursday.

"Same as before, you should be protecting information about the latest weapons systems and hardware, prospective military and industrial technologies, and innovative scientific products," he said.

This will help "ensure our country's competitive edge," Putin said.
