Russian Pacific Fleet ship uses artillery to hit 'enemy' targets in Avacha Gulf

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY. Feb 28 (Interfax) - The MPK-82 corvette of the Russian Pacific Fleet has practiced sea battle tactics by a sole ship while fulfilling a course assignment, the fleet's press service said on Friday.

"The crew of the ship conducted an air defense exercise. An Ilyushin Il-38 antisubmarine aircraft of the fleet aviation provided tactical background," the press service said in a statement.

The plane designated the forces of the imaginary enemy and dropped a parachute target. The MPK-82 detected the air target and destroyed it by means of an AK-176 artillery system.

The ship also conducted a series of artillery firing at a pulled sea shield, which simulated the imaginary enemy's surface ship in the Avacha Gulf.

The MPK-82 also drilled radio jamming, as well as protection and defense of the ship at an unsafe roadstead.
