MOSCOW. March 3 (Interfax) - The Russian Navy will procure four nuclear subs and one diesel sub, as well as four ships carrying Kalibr cruise missiles this year, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.
"This year the [United Shipbuilding] Corporation is due to deliver to the Navy the lead nuclear submarines Knyaz Vladimir and Kazan, the first serial nuclear submarines Knyaz Oleg and Novosibirsk, and the diesel submarine Volkhov," Shoigu said in a teleconference of the Defense Ministry on Tuesday.
"In addition, the Navy will be joined by six warships, including the Admiral Kasatonov frigate, the Gremyashchy, Retivy and Aldar Tsydenzhapov corvettes, the Pyotr Morgunov landing ship, and the Yakov Balyayev minesweeper, in addition to three support vessels," Shoigu said.
