Ak Bars Shipbuilding Corporation director general Mistakhov detained in bribery case

MOSCOW. March 4 (Interfax) - Moscow's Khamovnichesky District Court will consider the arrest of Ak Bars Shipbuilding Corporation director general Renat Mistakhov, who has been charged with giving a massive bribe.

"An investigative body motion on the use of a measure of restraint against Mistakhov in the form of placement in custody has been submitted to the court," the court's press service told Interfax on Wednesday.

Mistakhov has been charged with giving a massive bribe, the press service said.

The issue of Mistakhov's arrest will be addressed on Wednesday, it said.

The exact charges in the criminal case against Mistakhov are unknown, but it was reported earlier that the arrested former head of a division within the Russian Defense Ministry's government contract audit department, Yury Yefimov, testified against him as part of his own bribery case.

The Ak Bars Shipbuilding Corporation was set up under the auspices of the Ak Bars Holding Company in Tatarstan in 2018. The corporation includes such enterprises as the Zelenodolsk-based Gorky plant, the Zelenodolsk Design Bureau, the Kazan Elektropribor plant, and Ak Bars Metal. The main areas of its work are the design and production of ships and vessels, as well as their repair.
