MOSCOW. March 17 (Interfax) - Last year, the Russian state confiscated 20 billion rubles in assets acquired illegally by officials, Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov said.
"Last year alone, courts granted prosecutorial requests for the seizure of more than 21 billion rubles in favor of state coffers, a total of around 33 billion rubles over a seven-year period," Krasnov told senior colleagues on Tuesday.
The process of automating anti-corruption evaluations of regulations and bidders for government contracts should be sped up, he said.
"Effective anti-corruption efforts are only possible with close interaction between the prosecutor and other law enforcement and audit agencies," Krasnov said.
