Russian military conducts 2-day anti-coronavirus exercise

MOSCOW. March 20 (Interfax) - The Russian military has conducted a special exercise to train efforts directed toward countering the spread of coronavirus, which involved actions for the evacuation of citizens, the special processing of aircraft, and the disinfection of objects, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.

"A special training exercise by the radiation, chemical, and biological protection troops in cooperation with the Main Military-Medical Directorate and the Aerospace Forces was held on March 18-19. Security was ensured by military police units," Shoigu said at a Defense Ministry board meeting on Friday.

"At the Chkalovsky airfield, the troops practiced receiving and evacuating citizens, the special processing of aircraft and transport cargo, and resolving issues related to quarantine organization and disinfection of military units' facilities in order to normalize the epidemiological situation," he said.
