Duma commission on interference in Russian internal affairs keeping eye on Human Rights Watch - Piskaryov

MOSCOW. March 24 (Interfax) - Vasily Piskaryov, head of the State Duma commission investigating foreign interference in Russian internal affairs, has said he shares the concern of Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov about incorrect information about Russia's measures against Covid-19, which are being spread by head of the U.S. human rights organization, Human Rights Watch, Kenneth Roth.

"Our commission has long been keeping an eye on Human Rights Watch, and this is not due to its human rights activity, as one might have expected," Piskaryov told the press on Tuesday.

"We know this organization for its attempts at interfering in Russia's internal affairs and encouraging public protests, as well as for spreading information that is harmful to the health and development of children," he said.

"These are not the actions we expect from human rights activists at a time when many countries in the world, including the United States, are in trouble," Piskaryov said.

Russian Ambassador to the United States Antonov urged Roth not to misinform the public in New York and the world over in his statements regarding the Russian government's efforts to fight coronavirus.
