MOSCOW. April 14 (Interfax) - The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry will send humanitarian aid to Serbian firemen amid the coronavirus epidemic, a spokesperson for the Emergency Situations Ministry told Interfax.
"The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry, acting together with the Russian-Serbian Humanitarian Center, will assist colleagues from the friendly state in the midst of the coronavirus epidemic. Protective gear and personal protective equipment will be supplied to fire divisions of the Serbian Interior Ministry's emergency situations forces in the near future," the spokesperson said.
More than 3,000 packages containing protective masks and suits will be delivered, he said.
Serbia declared a state of emergency due to the coronavirus pandemic on March 15, and coronavirus cases among firemen and rescuers have been reported daily since then.
The Serbian Interior Ministry asked the Russian-Serbian Humanitarian Center on Monday to help provide staff members with personal protective equipment, the spokesperson said.
"The relevant procedures are underway for the quickest delivery of humanitarian aid," he said.
