MOSCOW. April 14 (Interfax) - The new gas mask PMK-4, which is part of the Ratnik combat gear, will be massively supplied to forces, an informed source told Interfax.
"The gas mask has been commissioned; it is being supplied inside the country only within the framework of government defense orders. It will replace the PMK-3 gas mask," the source said.
According to the public procurement website, the Defense Ministry allotted over 600 million rubles in 2019 for buying new gas masks. There have been no such tenders before.
The Western Military District press service reported the delivery of the first batch of PMK-4 gas masks on April 6. More than 2,500 new gas masks will be supplied to the combined-arms army of the Western Military District in 2020, the statement said.
The new gas mask fits both winter and summer combat gear. It also fits sub-Arctic conditions.
"The PMK-4 set consists of a protective visor made of polymeric glass, light filters, fixtures for vision correction devices, and devices for eating liquid food and drinking water, the statement said.
