Troops engaged in disinfection across Western Military District - commander

MOSCOW. April 14 (Interfax) - Specialists from the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection Troops have been employed to disinfect infrastructure all over the Western Military District, its top commander Col. Gen. Alexander Zhuravlyov said.

"In the 26 regions where the district's troops are based, our Radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection Troops units carried out special disinfection of 11,000 assets of civilian and military infrastructure and public roads - around 1.8 million square meters in total. This work will be continued," Zhuravlyov said.

The troops are disinfecting hospitals, ambulance stations, industrial facilities, schools and army bases, the district's press service said.

The effort "involved over 70 units of special military hardware including the ARS-14KM spray trucks, the TMS-65U disinfection vehicles, and other special equipment," the press service said.

The Western Military District comprises the republics of Karelia and Komi, the Arkhangelsk, Belgorod, Bryansk, Vladimir, Voronezh, Ivanovo, Kaliningrad, Kaluga, Kostroma, Kursk, Leningrad, Lipetsk, Moscow, Murmansk, Nizhny Novgorod, Novgorod, Oryol, Pskov, Ryazan, Smolensk, Tambov, Tver, Tula, and Yaroslavl regions, the cities of Moscow and St. Petersburg, and the Nenets autonomous district.
