Russian leadership to name date of V-Day parade shortly - Matviyenko

MOSCOW. April 16 (Interfax) - There is no doubt that the grandiose parade commemorating the 75th anniversary of Great Patriotic War Victory will take place in Moscow this year, and the national leadership will name the parade date shortly, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said.

"Have no doubt and rest assured that the parade commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory will absolutely take place this year; it will be grandiose, large-scale and proportionate to the feat of the Red Army, the feat of our people, the people of the Soviet Union, in the victory over fascism," Matviyenko said in a video press conference.

In her words, the parade date will depend on the coronavirus situation.

"I think that the national leadership will make a decision in the coming days and will say whether [the parade] will be rescheduled and if it will then to what date," Matviyenko said.
