Snowden applies for three-year extension of his residence permit in Russia

MOSCOW. April 16 (Interfax) - Former CIA officer Edward Snowden, who has asylum in Russia, has applied to extend his residence permit, Snowden's lawyer Anatoly Kucherena told Interfax on Thursday.

"We have submitted the documents necessary to extend Snowden's residence permit, which expires in April of this year, to immigration authorities," Kucherena said.

The American citizen asked Russian authorities to extend his residence permit for three more years, he said.
