MOSCOW. April 16 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed confidence that this year's May 9 will be marked across the country and every family will be honoring war veterans.
"I understand that for all of us, it is May 9 that is the Day of Victory. It has always been with us. The date itself is impossible to cancel or postpone. And we will not do that. On that day, every family will be remembering and honoring its heroes," Putin said at a meeting with the Security Council on Thursday.
Everything necessary will be done for veterans to feel people care and are grateful to them, he said. "We will employ all our capabilities," Putin said.
"Separately, I want to address millions of our citizens participating in the Immortal Regiment nationwide action. I share your feelings because, not through my job but from the call of my heart, I always walk in formation with you. All recent years I have been taking part in this impressive, incomparable procession," the president said.
This year, May 9 will, as ever, be a uniting day for the whole country and give strength to overcome any difficulty, Putin said.
