MOSCOW. April 21 (Interfax) - Russian and Turkish servicemen have conducted a fifth joint patrol in the Idlib de-escalation area in Syria, the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria said.
"The next, fifth Russian-Turkish joint patrol of a section of Route M4 in the Idlib de-escalation area connecting the cities of Aleppo and Latakia took place on April 21, 2020," the center said in a statement shared with Interfax.
On the part of Russia, two BTR-82A armored personnel carriers and a Tigr armored vehicle participated in the joint patrol, and drones from the Russian Aerospace Forces tracked the movement of the Russian-Turkish convoy, the statement said.
"The Joint Coordination Center organized interaction between the parties," it said.
Russia and Turkey conduct joint patrols missions in accordance with the agreements reached between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Moscow on March 5, 2020, the statement said. The first joint patrol of a section of Route M-4 in the Idlib de-escalation area took place on March 15, 2020, the second on March 23, the third on April 8, and the fourth on April 15.
