Servicemen disinfect defense industry enterprises in Russia's Rostov region

MOSCOW. April 23 (Interfax) - Radiation, chemical and biological protection units of Russia's Southern Military District have disinfected defense industry enterprises in the Rostov region as part of coronavirus containment measures, the military district's press service said.

"Radiation, chemical and biological protection specialists disinfected the indoor premises and the facades of buildings and roads adjoining them on a total area of approximately 700,000 square meters. In all, more than 160 buildings and other facilities of 19 enterprises in the Rostov region were disinfected," the press service said in a statement obtained by Interfax.

More than 50 radiation, chemical and biological protection specialists of the Southern Military District and 14 pieces of specialized hardware, including 12 ARS-14KM spraying trucks, took part in the disinfection efforts, which were conducted in the Rostov region from April 12 to April 23.

Following the decision by the Southern Military District commander, Col. Gen. Alexander Dvornikov, Radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection Troops decontamination units totaling around 1,200 servicemen have been formed in 15 territorial and 53 local garrisons.

Around 300 pieces of equipment and army-issued kits are in use, including APSO, BKSO, DK-4, IDK-1, ARS-14 and APKM firefighting trucks.
