Clinical research on Russian coronavirus vaccine to be completed before end of July - Shoigu

MOSCOW. May 26 (Interfax) - Clinical research on a coronavirus vaccine which is being developed in Russia with the military's participation will be completed by the end of July, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.

Central Research Institute No. 48 of the Russian Defense Ministry's Radiological, Chemical, and Biological Protection Troops, alongside the Russian Health Ministry's Gamaleya National Epidemiology and Microbiology Research Center, is developing a recombinant coronavirus vaccine, Shoigu said at a meeting chaired by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday.

"Experts of the institution are currently completing a preclinical study on an experimental vaccine. The deadline for this work is June 1. And the clinical research is to be completed by the end of July," Shoigu said.
