Attack aircraft start preparing for parades in southern Russia

ROSTOV-ON-DON. May 28 (Interfax) - Attack aircraft have begun preparations for demonstration flights due on June 24 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the victory in WWII, the Russian Southern Military District press service said in a statement.

"About 30 Sukhoi Su-25 aircraft, including the latest modification Su-25SM3, are participating in the rehearsals at the altitudes ranging from 200 to 600 meters," the statement said.

Ten military parades will take place in the territory of the Southern Military District on June 24, including hero cities Volgograd, Kerch, Novorossiysk and Sevastopol, and cities housing staffs of the district's formations: Rostov-on-Don, Novocherkassk, Stavropol, Vladikavkaz, Simferopol, and Kaspiysk.

About 120 aircraft will participate in the demonstration flights. There will be parades on the ground, as well.

"More than 43,000 servicemen and over 800 pieces of modern weapons and military hardware, as well as hardware dating back to the Great Patriotic War will participate in the military parades to be held in the territory of the Southern Military District," the statement said.
