CSTO adjusts action plan for 2020 due to coronavirus

MOSCOW. July 3 (Interfax) - The Military Committee of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) has adjusted its plans of joint activities for 2020, in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, Gen. of the Army Valery Gerasimov, chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, said on Friday.

"Taking into account the sanitary-epidemic situation, the plan for joint training of the control bodies of the CSTO collective security system's forces and resources has been adjusted," Gerasimov said.

The general staffs of CSTO member states have also analyzed the military-political situation in the region and reaffirmed their "common understanding of the challenges and threats existing in the region and coordinated actions toward their neutralization."

The participants at the Military Committee meeting also discussed a draft military cooperation development plan for CSTO member states for 2021-2025.
