Lavrov believes Bolton embellished U.S. actions in his memoir

MOSCOW. July 10 (Interfax) - Former United States National Security Advisor John Bolton's remarks regarding President Donald Trump's position on anti-Russian sanctions somewhat embellish the real situation, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"It's understandable that Bolton has his own view on Russian-American relations, as well as on the American mission as a whole, on America's attitude toward the global order, and on what this global order should be like," Lavrov said during an online session of the Primakov Readings conducted jointly by Interfax and the Russian Academy of Sciences' Institute of World Economy and International Relations on Friday.

"Ideally, any book conceived by its author should sell well, which is why he seeks to arouse the reader's interest, and some hot topics perhaps help achieve this," Lavrov said, when commenting at Interfax's request on statements from Bolton's memoir to the effect that Trump was unhappy about the sanctions on Russia over Syria and the Skripal case.

"As for the disclosure of some piquant and sensitive details on the whole, let it remain on John's conscience, along with his outright embellishment of Washington's actions in this situation or another," Lavrov said
