MOSCOW. July 24 (Interfax) - The Russian Federation Council on Friday approved a bill that recognizes the disposition of a part of the territory of the Russian Federation as extremism.
The document in this regard specifies the terminology of Federal Law No. 114 "On the Prevention of Extremism," which defines violations of Russia's territorial integrity as extremist activity.
The amendments bring the legislation on extremism prevention into compliance with the new provisions of the Constitution.
Under Part 21 of Article 67 of the Constitution, Russia ensures the protection of its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Steps aimed at alienating a part of Russia's territory and calls for such actions are prohibited.
