MOSCOW. July 29 (Interfax) - The charge of high treason brought against journalist and advisor to the CEO of Roscosmos Ivan Safronov has no relation to his work as a journalist, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"I'll repeat once again: according to our information, the charge brought against him [Safronov] is absolutely unrelated to his journalistic work," Peskov told journalists on Wednesday.
Asked whether the Kremlin might request more information now that Safronov has refused to conclude a plea agreement under which he would have had to identify his journalistic sources, Peskov said, "The president is unlikely to ask for more information. You should agree that, even in such sensitive cases, the president can hardly be aware of all the steps taken by investigative bodies throughout the entire investigation."
