Azerbaijan willing to continue Karabakh talks, but they should be substantive - foreign minister

BAKU. July 30 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and United States Ambassador in Baku Lee Litzenberger have discussed bilateral cooperation and the recent escalation of situation on Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

"The foreign minister said that [...] Azerbaijan is backing the continuation of talks on settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. However, these talks should not be of imitating nature, but should be substantive," the press service for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.

The parties said that Azerbaijan and the U.S. are cooperating on many tracks, in particular, in the energy sector.

Additionally, the negotiators discussed economic cooperation, global security, and the fight against Covid-19.

Azerbaijan is an important partner for the U.S., Litzenberger said.
