Frigate Admiral Kasatonov gets polymer coating for communications systems - Rostec

MOSCOW. July 30 (Interfax) - The new frigate Admiral Kasatonov has received a coating made of polymeric material for its radar array to protect the equipment from various influences, Rostec said.

"The coating preserves reliable signal reception and transmission for detection and identification of targets, including small-sized, within a radius of up to 300 kilometers. The protective structure of polymeric composite materials can work under extreme conditions for over 15 years," Rostec said on Thursday.

The product was developed by ONPP Tekhnologiya Romashin, it said.

"The four-meter multi-layer structure of polymeric composite materials has been developed under the current project to protect the radio-locating equipment in the upper point of the sea vessel. The main aim was to ensure [compliance with] the requirements for radio-transparency," ONPP Tekhonologiya's general director Andrei Silkin was quoted by Rostec as saying.

The frigate, the first one in the Project 22350 series, joined the Russian Navy on July 21.
