Kremlin expects Belarus to free detained Russians soon - Peskov

MOSCOW. July 31 (Interfax) - The Kremlin is concerned about the fact that Belarus has still not provided Russia with information explaining the detention of a group of Russians in that country, but is sure that Minsk will deal with the situation and free these people very soon, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"We're concerned that we still haven't been provided with any information explaining the detention of Russian citizens, but we hope and are even sure that our Belarusian counterparts will sort this incident out and free these Russian citizens in the near future," Peskov told journalists on Friday.

The Russian Foreign Ministry and the Russian embassy in Minsk are looking into the matter now, and the Russian and Belarusian presidents have not yet talked on the phone, he said.
