Russia-Abkhazia border to reopen on Aug 1 - operative HQ

MOSCOW. July 31 (Interfax) - The Russia-Abkhazia border will reopen on Saturday, the operative coronavirus response headquarters said.

"Following the [operative headquarters] meeting, it was decided to open the state border between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Abkhazia starting August 1, 2020. The decision was adopted based on the opinions issued by Rospotrebnadzor [Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing] and the Russian Health Ministry on assessing the sanitary-epidemiological situation in Abkhazia and determining of the degree of preparedness of Abkhaz infrastructure facilities to receive tourists," the operative headquarters said in a statement on Friday.
