KYIV. Aug 3 (Interfax) - Kyiv police began an operation on Monday after a man entered a bank in the Leonardo business center, claimed to have a bomb in his backpack, and asked for the police to be called; negotiations between the man and police are underway, Ukrainian Deputy Interior Minister Anton Herashchenko said.
"A representative of Universal Bank (based at the Leonardo business center in the Shevchenkivsky district) called the police at noon on August 3 and said that an unknown man up to 35 years of age had come into the bank's office, said he was carrying a bomb in his backpack, and asked for the police to be called. Bank office employees left the building, and the office head volunteered to stay," Herashchenko said on Facebook on Monday.
