Over 3,000 military facilities to be commissioned this year - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. Aug 5 (Interfax) - More than 1,800 military facilities have been commission this year, head of the Russian Defense Ministry's Construction Directorate Marina Balakireva said.

"The capital construction target for this year is to commission 3,200 buildings and structures to be used by the Armed Forces," Balakireva said as part of the Unified Military Goods Commissioning Day on Wednesday.

As of this date, 1,848 buildings and structures have been commissioned, which is 33% more than during the relevant period last year, she said.

A total of 519 buildings and structures have been commissioned for the purposes of the nuclear deterrence forces this year, Balakireva said.

"Infrastructure for road-mobile complexes is being built in Teikovo, Nizhny Tagil, and Novosibirsk, and infrastructure for silo-based complexes is under construction in Kozelsk and Yasny," she said.

"The tempo and organizational management of the construction of infrastructure elements of the Russian Strategic Missile Forces will help achieve the target of commissioning nuclear deterrence facilities," Balakireva said.

Additionally, 105 out of 154 buildings and structures for air and missile defense forces have been put into operation, she said.

"All the tasks set for the military construction sector in 2020 in the field of commissioning elements of the military and social infrastructure of the Russian Armed Forces will be achieved without a doubt, and all work quality requirements will be met," Balakireva said.
